A Different Perspective on Alcohol Use
High Functioning Alcohol Use is often misunderstood
There may be no obvious consequences, no external pressure to change, and no clear “bottom.” Yet, something feels off internally. Rather than viewing alcohol only as a behavior to control, we look at the larger psychological patterns involved in use.
Have you experienced difficulty with moderation of stopping, but returning patterns?
Are you interested in understanding yourself more deeply and feeling more aligned with your internal compass?
We will work to understand
internal states that alcohol is helping you to manage
patterns of pressure, performance, or self expectation
emotional experiences that may be difficult to access directly
relational dynamics that influence how you relate to yourself
when and why the urge arises
what shifts internally before and after drinking
As your understanding of these things becomes clearer, change tends to emerge not just through effort, but through greater awareness and choice.
How this works
Our work together will focus on understanding your relationship with alchohol in the context of your broader life.
This may include:
Tracking patterns and internal states over time
identifying moments of automatic or habitual use
exploring underlying emotional or relational themes
developing a more conscious and flixible response in situations where alcohol has felt automatic.
For some, this leads to moderation. For others, toward abstinence.
The direction in not imposed - it emerges from a deeper understanding of what is actually needed.
This type of approach is individualized for professionally or high-functioning persons who do not identify with the traditional “alcoholic” labels, yet feel conflicted about their relationship with alcohol.
If you are questioning your relationship with alcohol and are interested in a more thoughtful, depth-oriented approach, I invite you to reach out to discuss whether this work may be a good fit.
